Koh Lanta is one of southern Thailand’s most beautiful islands Located just off the coast of Krabi province.


The island features a long stretch of coastline. At least a dozen beaches dot this coastline, each with its own unique atmosphere and character.


Koh Lanta is sure to be on any visitor to southern Thailand’s itinerary. Despite its popularity, the island has managed to retain a slower pace of life. Koh Lanta oozes rustic charm. Pair that with the swaying palm trees, long stretches of beaches and turquoise waters, and it really is an idyllic island setting. The beaches of are truly special. A large majority are at least 3 kilometres long! For those who love a good sunset, the seven west coast beaches offer up some spectacular sunset views.

Make sure to wander around Lanta Old Town. Formerly known as Sri Raya, Lanta Old Town is a charming seaside village. Located on the east coast, it’s the oldest village on the island and the original town centre. Lanta Old Town is rich in history and Thai culture. The homes here are mostly wooden and built on stilts, which really enhances the rustic charm that is so prevalent here.


Koh Lanta is well known for its water activities. Snorkelling and scuba diving off the island’s coast is some of the best in Thailand. A good way to experience the dive sites is to take a diving day trip or meet one of the diving boats with your yacht for rendezvous diving.


There are several small, tropical islands within close proximity to Koh Lanta which are worth checking out. Koh Ngai has a pristine beach. It’s circled by clear waters and stunning coral reefs. Koh Mook is famous for its Emerald Cave. Koh Rok is renowned for its snorkelling. Koh Ha consists of five limestone islands west of Koh Lanta. The snorkelling and scuba diving here is excellent, while the scenery is stunning.


Koh Lanta’s beach bars are worth visiting as they are fun and laidback and play a lot of catchy reggae tunes. Koh Lanta is a great place to dine on Thai curries such as Massaman or Green Curry. In Saladan, The Frog is stylish and modern and serves up a variety of fine dining plates and also has an amazing wine cellar. Another restaurant in Saladan worth dining at is called “The Table” which features one long table that allows for visitors to the restaurant to dine together and share conversation over their meal.
